Athletes must register by September 19 at 10pm to receive the official jersey on race day. All registrations AFTER September 19 will receive their official jersey after the race, the week of December 4, 2012.

Overview

The inaugural FASTER Gran Fondo brings cyclists together for a weekend of riding, cycling related festivities and special celebrity guests. FASTER's Gran Fondo is not a bike race, but a challenging and supported bike ride with timed climbs. Cyclists will depart Scottsdale, AZ and complete 50 or 97 mile distances. While not a race, the supported ride will go through the scenic cities of Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Fountain Hills and will have an electronic chip-timed King and Queen of the mountain award. The 51-mile riders will have an opportunity to beat the clock on Cave Creek Road from Pima to Lone Mountain Parkway. There will be a single male and female winner in the 51-mile event recognized in the post-race ceremonies. The 97-mile riders will have the opportunity to compete in two climb categories: individually on the challenging Golden Eagle Boulevard in Fountain Hills, and a combined time from the climb on Cave Creek Road earlier and the Golden Eagle climb later in the 97 mile ride. 1st place male and female will be awarded for the fastest Golden Eagle time, as well as who is the fastest on the combined time from both climbs.

 

Bob Roll, legendary Tour de France cyclist and commentator will be in attendance. Participants will have several opportunities to meet Bob Roll, including:

• A book signing during packet pick up
• A limited field of 150 may also elect to ride as a VIP with Bob Roll 5 minutes before the general start, and will also include free entry to the Friday night reception, and special VIP tent.

 

A Friday night reception will be held on October 26th , 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Zona Hotel and Suites; 7677 E Princess Blvd. "Tales from Bobke" will feature Bob Roll as guest speaker talking about life in the professional peloton and will include light appetizers and a non-hosted bar. All registered participants will receive a commemorative FASTER Gran Fondo jersey by Pactimo. All participants registered after September 19 will receive their jersey the week of December 4, 2012. Participants will be notified when jerseys arrived and can be picked up at FASTER or mailed out. Participants will experience fully supported aid stations, huge expo with national and local vendors, and post-race food and beer garden.
